Dish Network sends out Google TV survey

When Google TV was officially announced at the search megalith’s I/O conference in May, there was mention of a partnership with satellite content provider, DIsh Network, to bring a seamless experience between existing Dish Network services and those provided by Google. And while you’ll soon be able to buy a Logitech set-top box called Revue for your Google TV needs, and while Sony is working on releasing a Google TV…TV, Dish Network has their own DVR/receiver/Google TV/Blu-ray in mind. At least, those are the integrated features they are considering, along with a stand-alone Google TV that would require a down payment and monthly installments. They want to know what options their customers find most appealing.

It sounds like things are coming together behind the scenes over at Dish Network, and hopefully, we’ll have some official announcement by year’s end. On a side note, I really enjoyed DIsh Network’s service (local contractors excluded) and considered myself a satisfied customer while I was one. My current living situation doesn’t allow dish installations, but if I could have a dish, it would bear the Dish Network brand. I think this partnership is very promising and I hope I can enjoy it when the time comes. See all of the watermarked survey slides over at Android Guys.

Toshiba tablet coming soon

Today has just been all about tablet news hasn’t it? Why stop now? The latest tablet news we have for you comes from none other than electronics manufacturer Toshiba.

Not much is known about the Toshiba Android based tablet set to launch in September or October of this year, but we do know it will run on a 10″ screen with Nvidia Tegra 2 processor inside. What can we expect from the tablet? Well, Toshiba has hit the sweet spot for millions of laptop owners with their Satellite series. They have taken a good amount of horsepower, plus a modern looking design, and thrown it together for a very reasonable price. Hopefully, this business motto will translate over into their newer products. I think we would all like to see a sleek widely available tablet that gives you some bang for your buck.

With the release of the Toshiba tablet right around the corner, look for more information to hit the web anytime now.

WeTab to ship in September

Starting this September, the WePad will see a limited launch in Germany, with hopefully others to follow sometime after that. You may remember the WeTab by it’s other name, the WePad. The company may have changed the name, but the specs remain mostly the same. Of course, having first seen the WeTab in mid April, there are bound to be some changes. For now, we know the device will still use an 11″ screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution, an Intel Atom N450 processor clocked at 1.66 GHz, 1GB RAM, either 16GB or 32GB of storage w/expandable card slot, and a 1.3mp front facing camera. The WeTab will also feature Linux, Java, AIR, and Flash 10.1.

The WeTab is set to release in two variants, WiFi only for roughly $575 and WiFi + 3G for roughly $880. While no information is available at this time regarding an American release, we can only hope the will come through soon enough. If not, we will always have alternatives. Check out a very sleek and sexy render of the WeTab below. Does this tablet entice you? Personally, I’d like to see what Android 3.0 brings about. Once that happens, then I’ll consider dropping $800 on a tablet.

eLocity A7 coming soon

eLocity is set to put their newest device, a 7 inch tablet, up for pre-order starting August 24th. The A7 is going to be aiming for ultra portability and measures in at only 8.2″ x 4.8″. Other than that, not much else will be known until the 24th. It’s safe to assume the A7 will feature the ability to stream mobile TV as it is being promoted by Stream TV Networks. It’s also safe to assume the device will come with WiFi in tow as well as access to the Android Market; something Augen could learn a thing or two from. Look for more information including pricing and availability August 24th.
