Noah unboxes the Cliq XT
Mar 10th
The Swype-equipped T-Mobile Cliq XT should be launched tomorrow running Android 1.5, but there’s still no *official* date on the calendar. This one features MotoBlur, Flash Lite, and a 5 MP cam. I’m sure we’ll be covering price and other features tomorrow. For now, check out an unboxing and hands on from PhoneDog.

Cliq XT Pamphlet Leaks on Eve of Release
Mar 9th
We’ve yet to hear anything official from Motorola or T-Mobile in regards to the release of the Cliq XT. For a phone that’s rumored to launch tomorrow, both the carrier and handset manufacturer have been super silent. To confirm that the phone is ready for release, I spoke with the manager at my local T-Mobile store. Sounds like it’s ready to go as I was advised they’ve received both dummy, non-working displays as well as the floor model for demonstration.
Engadget was recently passed some images of the brochure for the CLIQ XT showing how sales reps can effectively sell the handset. Details include talking about the web browser with Flash Lite, the 5 megapixel camera, and MOTOBLUR. The smart phone also features Flash Lite, multi-touch, and preloaded apps SHOUTcast, Midomi, GoTV, Last.fm, TuneWiki, and SoundHound.
Look for the CLIQ XT to sneak out tomorrow for $129 with a 2-year agreement.

CLIQ XT to Run $129 with 2-Year Agreement
Mar 2nd
T-Mobile’s next Android handset, the Motorola CLIQ XT is dropping with a great price attached to it. At $129.99, this marks the lowest debut price point for an Android phone on the nation’s fourth largest carrier. Yet-to-be-announced, the handset is a touch-only device that was once known as the Zeppelin. It should be noted that while more expensive on contract than the G1, it’s $40 less if you buy it outright. The CLIQ XT will be $329 if you decide to purchase one without a service agreement. In fact, this will be T-Mobile’s least expensive Android handset if purchased alone.
A quick rundown of specs peg the handset at 528 MHz processor speed, 256MB RAM/512ROM, a megapixel camera w/ autofocus and LED flash, and MOTOBLUR (Android 1.5). This marks the first handset from Motorola to feature their custom user experience on top of a touch-only handset. Also noteworthy, the CLIQ XT also features Adobe’s Flash Lite built in, giving the phone an improved web experience over other Android handsets.
If you’re interested in picking up a CLIQ XT, they’re rumored to drop on March 10th.
What do yo guys think of this handset and pricing? Are you swayed either way now that you know the costs involved?

Cliq XT Wears T-Mobile Like A Glove
Mar 2nd

Not much to report here other than we now have a little more proof the Cliq XT (AKA Zepplin) will land on T-Mobile USA before too long now. It still sports BLUR and comes with no keyboard, but that’s not all. The sides of the phone are touch sensitive so you can select apps and what-have-you, something that hasn’t really been mentioned before. The Cliq XT is rumored to release around March 10th with, if everything goes right, Swype and all.
UPDATE: We’ve also learned that the phone will be $129.99 with a 2-year contract.

T-Mobile-Branded Motorola Cliq XT Spied
Mar 1st
We’re heading into the final days before Motorola and/or T-Mobile officially announced the Cliq XT. How do we know? Spy shots, of course. A few pictures of the handset passed along to AndroidCentral show the smartphone formerly known as the Zeppelin wearing T-Mobile clothing. Generally, the trend for Android has been to make announcements shortly after pics like these hit the web. The last we heard, this handset was tipped for a release on the 10th. Yep – just a few days from now.
Along with the pictures come a feature not reported yet. The sides of the phone (outside of trackpad) also detect touch. Users can select apps and perform similar functions without using the physical pad on the front. AndroidCentral’s source says that function ends about a third of the way up the device. It’s also assumed that both Swype and doubleTwist will be loaded on the Cliq XT based on separate deals and announcements from T-Mobile in the past.
Head to AndroidCentral for another 2 pics of the handset.
