Dell Streak To Retail for $299 On AT&T Contract, Release Date Still Not Clear
Jul 28th
Dell still won’t say when it will actually start selling and shipping the Streak in United States, but on Tuesday they did clear up a bit of lingering confusion. What exactly did they clear up you might ask? Well it appears the Streak will be priced at $299.99 with a two-year AT&T contract, or $549.99 without contract. Sounds good to me! Price sounds pretty reasonable for that type of device.
A Dell spokeswoman also said today that the phone will not be launching in July as previously thought. At this point folks, your guess is as good as mine. I really hope the dell streak doesn’t become another xperia X10, it’s a really nice phone. I should also mention that you now have the opportunity to sign-up for a pre-sale opportunity. You can do that right here. Here’s to hoping this phone gets out the door soon folks!
Will you be buying one?

Dell Streak will retail at $549, $299 on contract
Jul 28th
Remember that brief slip where Dell took down their pre-order page and posed, in its place, a notice on straight purchases? I didn’t catch it, but Engadget did, and price tags were revealed.
If you get the device with a new contract from AT&T, be prepared to shell out $300. If you’re going straight cash, bring $550 with you. I’m curious how many of you are stoked enough about this product (from a mobile phone freshman) to drop that kind of scratch. The leak also said that pre-orderers (those who filled out the form between the 20th and today) will be getting those emails with links to purchase starting….now. So, it’s nearly time to put your money where your mouse is. Takers? Leave a comment.

Dell Streak to see 2.2 by year’s end, no T-Mo 3G [UPDATED]
Jul 27th
UPDATE: Although the pre-sale page is back now, it was briefly down with a message about sales beginning tomorrow. [END UPDATE]
It’s a bit of disappointing to know that Dell’s 5″ monster of a screen will be displaying Android 1.6 when it launches on AT&T very soon, but Dell’s Lionel Menchaca reaffirmed that the gadget will see 2.2 by the end of the year (sooner if cookers have anything to say about it) and added that the company has no plans to support T-Mobile’s 3G bands and that the device will only be available in Carbon Black for the US launch. Cherry Red will come later.
One of Lionel’s earlier blog entries clarifies the Streak pre-order process. Make note of when those who register will get an email about their ready product: “next week.” Which is to say, this week. Check out a video of a Streak running 2.1 below:

Official Dell Streak Details Emerge on Eve of Release, No T-Mobile Support
Jul 27th
Dell has taken to their company blog to shed light on their forthcoming Streak tablet/phone. Among the details shared is the fact that there are no plans to support T-Mobile’s network. Tough stuff for those of you holding out hope that we’d see a variant certified for their network. On a positive note, it has been confirmed that Android 2.2 “Froyo” will be coming later this year in an over-the-air (OTA) update. As of right now, the only color option is Carbon Black, but a New Cherry Red will be the next color offered. You may recall seeing CEO Michael Dell playing with a red variant early this year.
It’s worth pointing out that the dell streak is receiving tremendous amounts of buzz. According to spokesman Lionel Menchaca, this is the most successful pre-sale the company has ever offered, far bigger than anything he’s seen in his 16 years at Dell.
Here’s a clip with developer Kevin Andrew demonstrating the device running Android 2.1 “Eclair”. Maybe it’s me, but I think Kevin’s wording hints at a different device headed for T-Mobile.
“…This particular unit is not certified or compatible with the T-Mobile 3G network…”
Thanks for the glimmer of hope, Kevin!

Prepare for the Dell Streak pre-sale
Jul 22nd
I called AT&T yesterday asking about the Dell Streak. I was put on hold, and after speaking with her coworkers, the agent told me that it would be coming soon but she couldn’t offer any more information. Well, Dell is ready to talk, and you can go sign up right now for eligibility for – and to be alerted about – a 24 hour pre-sale opportunity at Dell.com. You can even get SMS updates on the status of the massive gadget.
The Streak will have it’s own application store as well as access to the Android Market, and with a 5″ screen, is one beast of a phone. Stay tuned for more at DroidDog.com. This device is launching by the end of July!

Dell Streak Launching in Late July
Jul 22nd
Dell has updated their official dell streak product page, and we now know that their 5 inch monster will be available later this month. Considering there’s only 10 days left in this month, that could be as soon as next week. This goes hand-in-hand with our report that the Streak would be launching on AT&T soon. It was thought to be launching this week, but I guess a few more days won’t kill us.
For those who don’t know, the Streak runs Android, has a gorgeous 5-inch WVGA display, a 5MP auto-focus camera, and also a VGA front-facing camera. It is one sexy phone/tablet. Can’t wait for this folks.
Anyone gonna pick one up?

Dell Streak Hitting AT&T Stores Next Week?
Jul 16th
Engadget is reporting that the dell streak may be hitting AT&T stores as early as next week. Apparently AT&T has corporate stores locked down and erected a new product display and implemented security measures that make JFK airport seem easy.
According to Engadget, employees are required to sign non-disclosure agreements, and warned not to get to curious about the display. The display is said to be geared toward a larger device, possibly something five inches or bigger. I guess we will see.
We will be keeping you updated as more news breaks. Anyone plan on buying a Dell Streak if it does launch next week?
