Verizon Nexus One Only Available Online, Sense UI? Doubt It
Mar 12th
Android Central has gotten hold of a picture showing the Nexus One in Verizon Wireless’ Equipment Guide. The description clearly states that the phone will ONLY be sold through Google’s phone website, as previously speculated. This confirms that Google will continue pushing people towards online phone shopping, and stick with its current strategy to change the way phones are purchased.
The strange thing about the picture above is the mention of Sense UI as a feature of the phone. However, I wouldn’t get too excited about it. People are just so careless these days when writing up spec sheets. We can probably chalk it up to a typo, since we know Google only wants to sell “Google Experience” devices on their site.
My first thought was the possibility of the Incredible being Verizon’s Nexus One; but then I realized how dumb that sounded and how pissed off Verizon’s customers would be were that the case. The Incredible’s specs are also rumored to be completely different. Sources say the phone will have 6GB of internal storage, along with 1GB of RAM. The Nexus One only has 512MB/512MB. In any case, both phones are coming soon. Now, all we have to do is wait.

HTC Incredible Poised for CTIA
Mar 12th
The HTC Incredible has been seen in the wild, yet again, leading us to believe the handset has been prepped and readied for a CTIA announcement. Dressed in Verizon black and red, this super phone has an awful lot going on under the hood. If you look at the bottom right of the battery cover you will see the Verizon logo silk-screened in the corner. We’d be very surprised if CTIA comes and goes without a word from anyone.
We’ve scoured over 107 pages of the AndroidForums post where these images come from and have collected some specs. Since nothing is confirmed by HTC or Verizon, these details are subject to change.
With that out of the way, here’s what we can expect out of the Incredible:
- 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
- 3.7 inch AMOLED WVGA 800×480
- 512MB ROM | 1GB RAM
- 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and autofocus
- Android 2.1 | Sense UI
- Optical track pad
- 1300 mAh battery
- 8GB MicroSDHC card
- FM Tuner
- Dimensions: 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)
So… who wants one?

Motorola HS1001 (Home Phone) in Action
Mar 11th
Motorola was in attendance at this year’s CeBIT and they were showing off the new HS1001 home phone made in conjunction with Binatone. The omnipresent Nicholas Charbonnier (Charbax) was also there and grabbed some video of the device in action. Running what appears to be a customized version of Android 1.6 experience, the HS1001 handles VoIP, gets emails, and messages just like your handset does. [Video after the jump]
The unit is expected to sell for 99€ in Europe and $149 in the USA when it arrives this summer. As pointed out by Charbax, the phone comes with a speaker-equipped charging station so you can play your Pandora or Slacker Radio stations while docked.

Motorola i1 Tidbits Emerge
Mar 11th
A few more details have emerged for the upcoming Motorola i1 handset. The first iDEN smartphone to run Android is said to be arriving with a 5 megapixel camera now instead of the 3.2 we were originally expecting. Additionally, rumors put the default browser in the hands of Opera Mini instead of the one we’ve all come to expect. Being this this device is not your true Google Android experience, handset makers can add what they see fit to the phone.

Mar 10th
Evernote, the popular, cross-platform app service that lets users create notes, snap photos, and record audio, will now be pre-installed on selected Android-based Samsung handsets. The first smartphone to see Evernote loaded is the T-mobile’s Behold II, which recently saw a software update.
“We’re incredibly excited to be working closely with Samsung on their line of Android phones. Android represents Evernote’s fastest growing mobile platform. This partnership helps Evernote reach a huge new audience with our promise of perfect memory for everyone,” said Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote.
With Evernote, individuals can create and find notes on their Android handset, PC, or web. Everything that is captured by the service is synchronized and instantly accessible so users can stay connected and organized in ways not possible just a few years ago.

Rumor: Sony Ericsson Xperia Series to See Android 2.2 in 2010
Mar 10th
One phone we’ve been hearing about for what seems like an eternity is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. After getting announced back in 2009, we’ve been patiently awaiting its arrival here in the US. The biggest problem we’ve seen facing the X10 is that it’s slated to arrive with Android 1.6 under the hood. According to CNET Asia, the Xperia line of handsets could get an update to Android 2.2/Froyo later this year. We’d previously heard that the phones will ultimately get an update to a newer version of Android, but which exact iteration wasn’t clear.
We assumed this would be version 2.1 but were informed today that it “will be an Eclair variant, so it could be 2.1 or even 2.2″, according to the spokesperson.
To dampen your enthusiasm just bit, we should point out that “later this year” has a 9-month window. This could be pushed out near the end of the year and possibly later than other handset makers. For all we know, Android could be at 2.5 or 3.0 by then.

Cliq XT Pamphlet Leaks on Eve of Release
Mar 9th
We’ve yet to hear anything official from Motorola or T-Mobile in regards to the release of the Cliq XT. For a phone that’s rumored to launch tomorrow, both the carrier and handset manufacturer have been super silent. To confirm that the phone is ready for release, I spoke with the manager at my local T-Mobile store. Sounds like it’s ready to go as I was advised they’ve received both dummy, non-working displays as well as the floor model for demonstration.
Engadget was recently passed some images of the brochure for the CLIQ XT showing how sales reps can effectively sell the handset. Details include talking about the web browser with Flash Lite, the 5 megapixel camera, and MOTOBLUR. The smart phone also features Flash Lite, multi-touch, and preloaded apps SHOUTcast, Midomi, GoTV, Last.fm, TuneWiki, and SoundHound.
Look for the CLIQ XT to sneak out tomorrow for $129 with a 2-year agreement.
