Hey Verizon, Just Announce the Incredible Already!

Anyone following Android can tell you that current holder of worst kept secret is Verizon’s forthcoming handset, the HTC Incredible.  The tiny bits of information hitting the internet have gone from a slow trickle into a downpour.  Late last week, the Incredible was found in the Cellebrite system. The last time this happened, it was for the Motorola Devour.  A few short weeks later, the phone was formally announced by Big Red.

Over the weekend, we saw a handful of tweets from Verizon’s VZWOffers account with references to the handset.  Without officially confirming anything, they do nothing to play dumb or pull the old “We cannot comment on products that have not been announced” deal.  Today sees us getting a screenshot of some activation instructions for the phone.

At this point, it’s just getting silly.  C’mon Verizon, announce the phone and get it over with.

An Android packed Phoneage

Co-founder of tehkseven.net, PhoneDogger, and funny guy Jon Quach (@tehkseven_jon) dropped another weekly episode of Phoneage late last night, and the first half is jam-packed with Android. The primary focus is on the HTC Incredible, of which Verizon is hoarding 156,709 units in some dank warehouse. With a 3.7″ AMOLED 480×800 screen, 1GB of RAM, and 6GB of ROM, this phone is mighty tempting. It also runs Android 2.1 with the new generation of Sense and sports an 8MP camera. Posting this video has me thinking about my next device, and whether or not I want to jump into another contract with a company I haven’t thoroughly tested in my current location. Jon mentions the spec battle going on between Incredible and EVO 4G, but for me, it’s all about Sprint coverage vs. Verizon coverage. In my place, AT&T reigns supreme, but I’m not about to walk into the local Bell store for an Android…no sir.

150,000+ Incredibles In Warehouse, Ready for April Launch?

CTIA came and went without any Android-related Verizon news.  After watching Sprint and a few others walk away with all the green robot glory, we’re waiting for Big Red to drop something on us.  According to an AndroidForums thread, we could be seeing something in the next few weeks. Allegedly, the screen your looking at is from an inventory system that shows 156,709 units “On Order”. It’s said that this status indicates they’re in a warehouse, ready to go.

You tell us – Is Verizon gonna drop the Incredible on us any time soon?

HTC Incredible Poised for CTIA

The HTC Incredible has been seen in the wild, yet again, leading us to believe the handset has been prepped and readied for a CTIA announcement.  Dressed in Verizon black and red, this super phone has an awful lot going on under the hood.  If you look at the bottom right of the battery cover you will see the Verizon logo silk-screened in the corner. We’d be very surprised if CTIA comes and goes without a word from anyone.

We’ve scoured over 107 pages of the AndroidForums post where these images come from and have collected some specs.  Since nothing is confirmed by HTC or Verizon, these details are subject to change.

With that out of the way, here’s what we can expect out of the Incredible:

  • 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
  • 3.7 inch AMOLED WVGA 800×480
  • 512MB ROM | 1GB RAM
  • 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and autofocus
  • Android 2.1 | Sense UI
  • Optical track pad
  • 1300 mAh battery
  • 8GB MicroSDHC card
  • FM Tuner
  • Dimensions: 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)

So… who wants one?

HTC Incredible poses for glamor shots

HTC Incredible3Here we go again, another photoshoot of the upcoming HTC Incredible, aimed to release on Verizon Wireless later this year. We’ll keep this one brief, as we figure by now you’ve got the important stuff memorized, right? All right, all right, we’ll go over it one more time: 3.7-inch WVGA, AMOLED display; 512MB ROM/256MB RAM; 5MP camera with dual-LED flash; 2.1 with Sense UI atop; and finally that 1GHz Snapdragon processor under the hood. Basically, this is the Nexus One, but Sense UI-infused. So for all of you waiting for the N1 to make an appearance on the Big Red network, keep your eyes open for this as well. According to Mr. Devdroidian, who made an appearance at Ignite Dallas, the device is still rocking that red cover we spied a few weeks back, and may also be delayed until May. Word is though, that it’s still planned to be officially unveiled at CTIA this month. This wasn’t all that brief at all, was it? Well, at least you’re informed. That’s the important part. More images after the break.

HTC Incredible on video

We already knew that it’s coming to Verizon, and that it was kicking around in the wild, but this is the first video showing it in action: HTC’s Sense-packing Incredible. I think I’ve seen this before. It was posted on YouTube on February 7th. Nevertheless, it’s worth posting here:
