Lumigon to Launch Android Handset In Time For Halloween

Danish company Lumigon has announced that they’ll be launching their first Android handset this October. The handset, known as the T1, will be launching on October 20th, with pre-orders beginning on September 20th. The T1 will sport a 480 x 320 resolution 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, a Freescale 1Ghz i.MX51 processor, a 5MP camera with flash and some 720p video output goodness thrown in. WiFi, A-GPS, accelerometer, and Bluetooth are also included.

Want to know the best part? It boots Android 2.1. No word on whether or not Lumigon will update it to Froyo (or something else) in the future. Pricing and carrier availability have not yet been announced, but we’ll keep you in the know. Anyone planning to buy this handset?

Rumored myTouch 3G HD Breaks Cover

Android Central has been passed what is said to be the first picture of the upcoming myTouch 3G HD from T-Mobile.  Looking more than a tad legit, this is the first we’ve heard of said device.  Looking closely at the picture, we can see the Genius Button which made its debut on the myTouch 3G Slide a few months back.  Add to that an eerily similar form factor and we’re on board with this as the new, big brother in the myTouch lineup. We’d like to think that having HD in the name implies a 3.7-inch screen (or larger) with 720p video recording and/or playback.  Check out the top off the phone (image after break), near the earpiece.  Looks an awful lot like a front facing camera, no?

Here’s where things get fun.  Remember the phone that T-Mobile started teasing us with yesterday?  You know, the first HSPA+ phone from the carrier.  It was found that the source code from the mini-site had references to “Vanguard” all over it.  Today, there’s not a trace.  Instead you’ll find the term HSPA littered about.  T-Mobile probably realized the codename was pretty much out in the public and had to jump into action.  Fair enough.

We know that the phone listed on the HSPA+ site is only a render, but it does resemble the myTouch 3G HD.  So let’s assume these two are one in the same.  Where does that leave us?  Our hunch tells us that the HTC Vision/G1 Blaze is possibly the Project Emerald device slated for later in the year.

Samsung Galaxy Q Specs Leaked

galaxy-q-specsWhat could be coming on the heels of Samsung’s Galaxy S series of devices? It seems the answer to that is the Galaxy Q!  Major differences from the Galaxy S include a Qwerty keyboard 3″ Super AMOLED screen and a physical form factor a bit smaller than the Galaxy S.  It will feature a front facing camera as well as the standard rear facing camera. Much like the Galaxy S it will have 16Gb of internal storage and support up to a 32Gb MicroSDHC card for expansion.

  • Network: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity
  • Android 2.2 (Froyo at launch)
  • 1Ghz Hummingbird (Same processor used in the Galaxy S)
  • 3″ Super AMOLED screen with 720×480 resolution
  • 8.0 mega-pixel rear camera with LED flash, HD video capable
  • 1.3 mega-pixel front facing camera for video chat
  • 1500mAh battery (Same rating as the Galaxy S)
  • Multi-Touchscreen, Qwerty keypad and optical touchpad inputs
  • 16Gb internal storage, External storage supports up to 32Gb MicroSDHC
  • Physical dimensions: H 4.8″(120mm) x W 2.72″(68mm) x D .37″(9.25mm) weighing in at 3.8 ounces

The 8.0 mega-pixel camera is a nice upgrade but dropping to a 3″ Super AMOLED screen is a bit of a let down after the Galaxy S 4″ screen. There were no details regarding pricing, release date, or which wireless carriers will carry the device. While it shares some characteristics with the Galaxy S it certainly stands as its own device packing a QWERTY keyboard and a Front facing camera. Physical specs on the device elude to it being more in line with the candy bar form factor with the keyboard laid out below the screen and to be marketed as a Blackberry competitor, however there were no pictures or specific physical details leaked with the specifications.

Another day in the Android tablet saga, and more and more information is leaking about various manufacturers’ Android-based tablets.

  • Reports indicate that ASUS’s Eee Pad, seen running Windows at CES back in January, will instead run Android when it is launched in 2011. The device is a NVIDA Tegra2 powered tablet with a 10″ screen. Little else is known other than that 3G carriers could start seeing devices in December for testing.
  • Toshiba’s Mark Whittard, Australian Managing Director for the company, showed a tablet prototype and said that the device will be available before October. No hardware details were released, but the prototype on display featured HDMI output, USB connectivity, multi-touch and could run either Windows 7 and Android.

  • Lenovo has also outed their “LePad” to complement their “LePhone” released earlier this year. The portable computer manufacturer stated that they believe Apple CEO Steve Jobs has not focused on the Chinese market. Lenovo sees tablets, associated hardware and services as becoming as much as 20% of the company’s revenue over the next 5 years.
