LG’s LU2300 Superphone Due Next Quarter
Mar 3rd
Looks like LG is ready to start rolling out their Android-based superphones. Next up for the handset maker is their touch-only LU2300. Featuring a Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera, Tv-Tuner, WVGA AMOLED screen and Android 2.1, it sounds almost exactly like a Nexus One. LG is also taking steps to preload a few applications on the handset for customers whereas in the past they left it up to the user.
The LU2300 is due sometime in the second quarter. Other specs, including the memory, are unknown but we’re sure to see them trickle out before long.

HTC Incredible caught in the wild with Android 2.1 and Snapdragon
Feb 8th

The guys over at PocketNow have spent some quality time with the HTC Incredible, and managed to get us some photos, a video by Mr. ShakyCam and some details. It’s packing a Snapdragon CPU, Android 2.1 goodness with Sense UI, 256MB of RAM, optical mouse pointer, and dual LED flash. The screen is somewhere between 3.6 and 3.7 inches, with WVGA resolution and AMOLED. Sounds like winner to me, althought some Hero users are going to be pissed if this comes with 2.1 and they’re still stuck on 1.5.

Sony Xperia X10 – Canadians Celebrate
Jan 6th
Today the entire world’s eyes were fixed upon all of the live blogs, video streams, and articles pouring out about two of Google’s new latest releases. The Nexus One Android Phone and the Google Web Store. While you might suspect Canadians were sulking about its lack of availability in Canada, Wrong! We were celebrating a victory of our own; the confirmed release of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.
The phone will be running Android 1.6 and while that may have Canadians wondering how long it is until we get Android 2.1, you can be happy to know it’s got some new tricks for an old dog. Listed below are the technical specifications for the phone(via AndroidInCanada.com).
- OS: Android 1.6
- Dimensions: 119 × 63 x 13 mm
- Weight: 135 grams
- Includes: GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack
- Display: 4-inch WVGA (480×854 pixels) capacitive scratch-resistant touchscreen
- Memory: 8GB microSD card included, with 1GB of internal memory
- CPU: 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250
- Camera: 8.1MP with 16x digital zoom, auto-focus, touch focus, face recognition, and geo-tagging
What really stands out with the X10 is the inclusion of a similar, if not the same, 1GHz processor included in the Nexus One. This processor will show Canada some of the fastest speeds it has ever seen from Android and hopefully make a dent in providing Android awareness to the Canadian market. Sony has taken Android and improved upon it by adding new features such as Sony Ericsson Mediascape and Timescape™ that add to make a for a completely new way to experience Android. Videos of these two new features can be found below. The release of the X10 is expected for the second quarter of this year.
The question is… will you wait for your Dreams and Magics to be updated to 1.6, or will you drop it like an old girlfriend for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10?

LG’s own Snapdragon
Nov 6th
Are you less than excited about LG’s GW620 (pictured below)? If so, is it because it’s headed to Canada, or because it seems too cuddly to be powerful? I think the phone looks like a cute social and messaging device but I don’t expect it to be a multi-tasking beast, despite the use of monsters in the Eve’s commercials. I could be wrong of course. We don’t know all that much about what’s under the GW620’s hood. (cont.)

What we do know – according to Slash Gear – is that LG is currently working on their own Snapdragon device for a Q2 2010 launch in Korea, with a possibility of branching into other markets. Their isn’t much info beyond that, except that this unnamed phone will be “more mature” than Eve. With another device joining the 1 GHz ranks of Liquid and the X10, it looks like an extremely promising year for Android overseas. When will we Americans get a dragon to drool over, HTC?

Xperia Learns From Xperience
Nov 6th
With the announcement of the Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10, one can’t help but wonder why there aren’t more devices like it on the market today. True, it lacks the latest version of Android (2.0); they also seem to have left out multi-touch browsing. But, the fact of the matter is, those things are all fixable via software updates. Plus, I’m sure they’re already hard at work on implement Android 2.0 with their super slick, outta control, Rachael UI.
So, aside from the software issues, which can be corrected, why can’t other phones be like the Xperia X10? Why is it so hard for a company to put out a quality piece of hardware? I just don’t get it! I understand it costs more money, but we see that phone companies are already charging customers a fortune for high end phones.
Let’s use our brains for second (I know I’m asking a lot)… Who in tarnations wants to pay $349.99 (after mail-in rebate) for an HTC Touch Pro2 running WinMo 6.1? Yeah, it’s a nice looking phone, but that’s pretty much it. The processor is awful (528MHz ARM11), it’s as glitchy as an 8086 running Windows Vista, and it’s fatter than Chris Farley in the movie Tommy Boy. Why not sell a high-end Android phone instead, or at least along-side it? Do phone makers think there’s no market for it? Read the rest of this entry »
Xperia X3 Might be Hiding Snapdragon Under Its Good Looks [Rumor]
Oct 17th

Let’s hope this Android/Snapdragon pairing becomes a trend. Along with a live pic of the X3/Rachel in the wild comes a rumor that the X3 will join the Acer Liquid in the Snapdragon club.
As if the last round of specs weren’t enough to get you excited, now it’s looking like that 8 MP camera and massive touchscreen will be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Don’t worry, even though this unit is running Android 1.6, 2.0 should be included by the time the X3 is released.
Whether or not it will be underclocked like the Liquid is still up in the air. Even if it is, it could another Android phone running Snapdragon. That’s a good thing. [P4DA via GSM Arena via Electronista via Ubergizmo]
